Footwear and leather goods
THE BEST MOMENT OF BRAZIL

“If you have followed the leather and footwear industry in Brazil and around the world over recent decades, you may have noticed that 2010 will debut new and revolutionary trends among producer countries. These new milestones will clearly establish two hubs for manufacturing of footwear from now on. Only one of them is located in the Western Hemisphere. Where, you ask? In Brazil, of course.

This situation was already evolving in recent years, but the global financial and economic crisis triggered in September 2008 forced the unavoidable and rapid migration of production to Asia and Brazil.
The United States stopped producing footwear a long time ago. With the exception of specialist, niche manufacturers, gradually most European countries will also follow in that same direction, shifting production due to high operational costs and in some cases lack of local raw materials.

This realistic framework finds Brazil coming to the fore as a producer of quality footwear and leather goods, featuring high fashion content and competitive prices. For these three reasons - quality, fashion and price - Brazil will thrive as one of the most important world players over the forthcoming decades.

Brazil has abundant and valuable raw materials as well as self-sufficient manufacturing clusters spread across its huge territory, and has a large domestic market that, added to peripheral clients, exceeds 400 million consumers.

With diversified exports, Brazil’s shoes and bags are sold to over 150 countries, and thanks to excellent logistics any quantity can be delivered anywhere in the world. This represents quite a feat; ensuring the buyer the reliability he needs.

Brazilian footwear manufacturers – mostly descendents of European immigrants – produce fashion collections that are now showcased in London, Paris, Tokyo or New York. They also monopolize the most sophisticated retailers throughout Brazil and the global and cosmopolitan city of São Paulo, the biggest economic center in Latin America.

Brazil is an economically strong, democratic nation, without ethnic or religious conflicts - a peaceful country that is undoubtedly growing rapidly - and now stands in the focus of all global leaders, one of the protagonists on the world stage.

A country that was the last to enter the crisis and the first to leave it behind, more competitive, more modern and ready for its new international role. Brazil deserves your attention and expects your visit shortly!

It is in this context that we shall hold the 37th edition of COUROMODA, the most important footwear and fashion accessories trade fair of the Americas, not least a major and respected showcase of Brazilian products.
We look forward to welcoming you to São Paulo, from January 18 to 21, 2010 and helping you meet the 1,200 exhibitors that develop multi-season collections and are able to meet the demands of different countries and regions, always attuned with the latest fashion trends”.
