The Couromoda Group will have
a fair in the garment sector

The Couromoda Group, that has already organized 36 editions of Couromoda – the International Shoes, Sports Goods and Leather Goods Fair in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, has just announced the creation of a new fashion event.

The Management of Couromoda is investing in the synergy between the footwear and garment sectors and shall hold the São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter fair geared to the garment sector. The first edition will take place in January 2011, at the exhibition center Expo Center Norte, simultaneously to Couromoda, which is held always in January at the Anhembi Exhibition Center, both in the city of São Paulo.

As both pavilions - Anhembi and Center Norte - are close to each other, the thousands of buyers and importers that traditionally visit Couromoda (which will have 1200 exhibitors at the January 2010 edition) will be able, in one week, to get to know the concept of fashion of the season in an integrated way (footwear and garment) with a full range of purchasing options for the first semester.

The São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter project was being worked out since January and is now finished, with the definition of the dates (already until January 2014) for both events, on the same week, using both venues: Anhembi and Expo Center Norte.

The first edition of the São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter will feature 400 Brazilian and foreign exhibitors, two garment sectors, fashion accessories and fashion bijoux. Part of these exhibitors is garment and accessory companies that are already participating in Couromoda, at the Anhembi. By joining the São Paulo-Prêt-à-Porter these companies open up space to let expand the area for footwear, Sports Goods and bags, in great demand at Couromoda and presently waitlisted. The other exhibitors to the garment fair will come from several Brazilian States and from international agreements already in operation.

Professional and business event

Designed for retailers and distributors, the São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter will follow the same policies of the other fairs of the Couromoda Group: modern events, with plenty glamour and business focused. "Our fairs are made to sell”, emphasizes entrepreneur Francisco Santos, founder and president of the organization. “With fully professional events we are permanently investing to know and service the sectors we work with, we develop reference fairs for launchings and for effective forwarding of purchasing orders”.

International Partners

This week, Francisco Santos is in Europe to launch Couromoda 2010 international campaign and to accompany the circuit of the fashion fairs of Paris, Düsseldorf, London and Milan. He has also meetings scheduled to work out the partnership of Italian, French and British manufacturers aiming at the participation of 100 garment companies already at the first edition of the São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter, in January 2011. "We shall follow the same policy as that of Couromoda, only accepting foreign exhibitors with renowned brands and European or North American Labels, so to avoid disloyal, predatory and direct competition from Asian manufacturers”, ends up Santos.

Launching in November 2009
São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter will be launched officially on November 30th in the city of São Paulo. The first edition of the event will take place in 2011, from January 18th to 21st, thus giving the organizers 14 months for preparation and promotion of the new event.
Joining Couromoda and São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter, Francisco Santos and his team work with a forecast of reaching 2013 with a total of 2,000 exhibitors in the two events. "Brazil needs a garment and accessory fair of international standard that is actually a business event. This is our objective. We need to expand our domestic market and confirm Brazilian fashion --- be it footwear or garment – and also on the foreign market. By holding these two fairs jointly we shall place São Paulo definitely in the agenda of the Brazilian and International fashion buyers.
